How I Work
The relationship between client and therapist is the foundation of psychotherapy. My primary goal at the beginning of our work together is to understand what you’re going through, and to make sure you know I understand. During our time together, we’ll affirm the strategies and habits that work for you, and explore those you’ve adopted that may have at one time served to protect you, but that now sabotage your relationships or cause you pain. We may also explore — through the use of mindfulness practices — how your emotions inhabit your physical body, to help you gain a deeper awareness of what your whole being is trying to communicate to you.
We’ll also explore what’s going on between us. Some relationship patterns in your life inevitably show up in your relationship with your therapist. We can explore your thoughts and feelings about (and towards) me in a safe, nonjudgmental space, and use the therapy-client relationship as a crucible in which you can potentially heal other relationships in your life through having changed your belief systems and patterns of behavior.

My Background
I am a psychotherapist licensed to practice Mental Health Counseling in New York. My graduate level training focused on the integration of Western psychology with Eastern mysticism, incorporating mindfulness practice as an effective way to explore one’s unconscious and to relieve stress and anxiety. Throughout my adult life, I have been involved in sitting and moving meditation practices such as Zen Buddhism and Five Rhythms.
I am sex-positive, poly- and kink-friendly, and affirm all gender expressions and sexual orientations.
In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a therapist at community mental health clinics in Brooklyn, and as a foster care worker and counselor of troubled adolescents in the SF Bay Area. I have also worked as an astrologer and web producer.
